Extension troubleshooting
Most extension issues come down to sign-in, permissions or a stale tab. Work through these in order.
The side panel doesn't appear
- Confirm the extension is installed and pinned (Chrome, Edge, Brave or Arc).
- Make sure you're signed in — click the ScribX icon and check.
- Refresh the meeting tab — the panel injects when the page loads.
- Confirm you're on a supported platform (Google Meet, Zoom web, Microsoft Teams web).
I'm signed out / can't sign in
- The extension and web app share a session. Sign in again from the ScribX icon → Sign in.
- If your org uses SSO, complete sign-in through your identity provider.
- Disable other extensions that block third-party cookies for the auth tab, then retry.
Capture won't start / no audio
- Grant the requested tab audio (and microphone for in-person capture) permission.
- Keep the meeting tab open and focused — in-browser capture follows your tab.
- Check your system isn't muting the tab; play a moment of audio to confirm.
Live transcript is blank or wrong language
- Set the meeting languages so transcription expects the right speech.
- Poor audio (background noise, far mic) reduces accuracy — improve the source and add a glossary.
A bot won't join
If you sent a bot and it didn't join:
- It may be waiting in a lobby — a host must admit the ScribX participant. See Manage the bot in-call.
- Check the meeting link is correct and the meeting has started.
- As a fallback, capture in-browser instead.
Platform quirks
- Google Meet — gets the full side panel; reload if it doesn't dock.
- Zoom / Teams (web) — use the content panel; make sure you're on the web client, not the desktop app.
