Quickstart
This walkthrough takes you from zero to your first ScribX write-up. By the end you'll have:
- The extension installed and signed in
- One meeting captured end to end
- A transcript, translation and AI summary waiting in your library
It takes about five minutes, and you don't need a credit card — the Free plan covers it.
Before you begin
- A Chromium-based browser — Chrome, Edge, Brave or Arc (see supported browsers)
- A ScribX account — sign up free
- A meeting to capture (a real call, or just open a Google Meet with yourself to test)
1. Install and pin the extension
1- 1Click Add to Chrome
- Open the ScribX listing in the Chrome Web Store and click Add to Chrome.
- Confirm the permissions prompt.
- Click the puzzle-piece icon in your toolbar and pin ScribX so it's always one click away.
Full details and other browsers: Install the extension.
2. Sign in
- Click the ScribX icon in your toolbar.
- Choose Sign in and authenticate with your work account.
- The extension and the web app now share one session — you won't need to sign in again on this device.
More on this: Sign in & accounts.
3. Capture a meeting
You have two ways to capture. For your first run, the in-browser path is fastest.
- Join any meeting in Google Meet, Zoom or Teams in your browser.
- Open the ScribX side panel from the extension.
- Click Capture this meeting.
The live transcript starts immediately. To have a bot join the call instead — useful when you can't keep the tab open — see Send a bot.
4. Watch it work live
While the meeting runs you'll see:
- Live transcript — words appear within milliseconds, first as interim text, then committed.
- Translation — turn it on to read every line in your language alongside the original.
- Checkpoints — decisions, blockers and action items ScribX flags as they come up.
See In the meeting for the full panel tour.
5. End the call and open your notes
12- 1Transcript · Checkpoints · Summary · Chat · People
- 2Switch the summary language or format
- Leave or end the meeting as usual.
- Within seconds, open your library — the meeting is at the top.
- Open it to find the AI summary, action items, full transcript and the original recording.
You start in your own private team; captures land there by default. Create more teams (for a group or client) and switch between them from the team switcher at the top-left. See Teams, projects & roles.
The write-up includes a Quick recap, an Overview by topic, Next steps by owner, and a timestamped Detailed recap — all editable. See The write-up.
🎉 That's it
You've captured a meeting end to end. From here:
- Share it — send the note to teammates or a public link.
- Sharpen future summaries — add a context & glossary so names and acronyms come out right.
- Capture without keeping a tab open — send a bot to the call.
What's next?
- Capturing meetings overview — bot vs in-browser, and when to use each
- Your library — find, search and organize everything you capture
