Capture from the extension
When you're already in a Google Meet or Zoom (web) call with the extension installed, you don't need to go back to the web app — open the ScribX quick-action menu and start capturing right there. You can switch methods any time during the call.
Choose how to capture
Open the quick-action menu in the call and pick one:
12- 1Start ScribX — invite a bot to record, transcribe & translate
- 2Live captions — read the platform's own captions, no bot joins
- Start ScribX — invites a bot into the call. It records, transcribes and translates with the highest accuracy, and the meeting is saved to your library. Full details: Send a bot.
- Live captions — no bot joins. ScribX reads the meeting platform's own live captions right in the panel — instant and private. Lighter accuracy; turn the platform's CC on first. See In-meeting captions.
While the bot connects
After you tap Start ScribX, the menu shows "ScribX is joining…" while the bot connects to the call. Once it's in, the live transcript starts streaming in the panel.

Once ScribX is recording
When the bot is in, the menu switches to its recording state — Recording in progress — with controls for the live session:
123- 1Captions in meeting — toggle live captions over the call
- 2Remove ScribX from meeting — stop recording and remove the bot
- 3Pop out to new window — detach the transcript into its own window
- Captions in meeting — toggle live captions over the call.
- Remove ScribX from meeting — stop recording and remove the bot from the call.
- Pop out to new window — detach the transcript/captions into a separate window.
Only one ScribX bot can be in a meeting at a time. If someone has already started ScribX on the call, you join their session instead of adding a second bot — everyone shares the same recording, transcript and notes.
Accidentally hit F5 or reload the meeting tab? ScribX automatically restores the in-progress session — the bot stays in the call and your live transcript, captions and Checkpoints reappear right where they left off.
Reposition the panel
The same menu has view controls:
- Move sidebar to left / right — dock the ScribX panel on either side of the meeting.
- Open sidebar — expand the full panel with the live transcript, translation and Checkpoints.
Started with Live captions and want the full recording + summary? Open the menu again and tap Start ScribX mid-call to invite the bot.
Capture options
Before a capture starts, an invite/confirm modal lets you dial in exactly what ScribX does for this session:
- Method — choose Start ScribX (a bot joins) or Live captions (no bot).
- Recording — turn audio (and video, where available) on or off.
- Transcription — on or off, and the spoken languages in the call (see languages).
- Live translation — on or off, plus how many languages to translate to.
- AI summary — on or off, with your summary format.
- Speaker diarization — label who spoke.
- Meeting brief / notes — a short context note to sharpen the summary; plus team knowledge to attach context & glossary and tags.
- Save to — pick the team/project the meeting is saved under.
- Transcription provider — the managed ScribX agent, or a lighter Basic Transcript. Some options depend on what your organization has enabled.
The defaults come from your team/project settings, so you can usually just confirm — adjust only the session you're about to start.
